- Harness solves the problem of needing to keep your laptop running for agentic coding by allowing remote work via SSH.
- It works similarly to VSCode's remote feature, with the UI on your laptop and files/agents on the server, and supports one-click setup from SSH config.
- Key features include easy switching between backends, notifications from all machines, a web client for mobile access, token-based security, and a consistent UI across platforms.
- For manual setup, users can install and run the headless server via command line and connect from the desktop app.
- Harness is free, open source, and currently available for macOS, with plans to expand to other platforms.
