Everyone's Packing Up
- Many users are leaving major platforms like Reddit, WordPress, Discord, GitHub, and Photoshop.
- Reasons for leaving include pricing changes, AI training on user content, new ownership, policy updates, and a sense that platforms no longer serve individuals.
- People are migrating to smaller, more controlled spaces such as personal sites, self-hosted apps, and obscure platforms like Gopher or Gemini.
- The shift prioritizes control over reach, and what once seemed like giving up now appears sensible.
- Big platforms will persist, but the users who made them engaging are quietly departing.
