A parent created a gender-swapped version of EarthBound for their daughter using CoilSnake, modifying Ness's sprites and pronouns.
Changes included replacing names, favorite items, and food lists, and color-swapping Ness's dog to match their family dog.
The credits font was updated to include accented characters for a French message, and the parent found the process surprisingly easy with the tool.
They considered using existing ROMhacks but opted for a custom version to avoid unwanted content and ensure safety and appropriateness.
