Decisions API is in public beta
- The Decisions API evaluates text and/or images and returns typed answers about 10x faster than the Responses API.
- Three question types are available: predicate (returns probability a condition is true), choice (selects from fixed options), and score (rates against ordered levels).
- Use the API to classify content, route requests, and prioritize work in applications.
- The API is in public beta, with GA expected soon, and currently only supports the gpt-6-luna model via the POST /v1/decisions endpoint.
- A request consists of a model, input (text or user messages with inline base64 images), and an array of questions; the response echoes each question's unique name.
- Choice answers include the selected value, probabilities for all options, and a confidence field; score answers return a probability-weighted average of level indices.
- Examples include checking product photos for visible damage (predicate), routing a customer complaint to a department (choice), and rating issue severity (score).
- Pricing is $0.10 per 1M input tokens with no output charges; the API supports Zero Data Retention and HIPAA for eligible customers in the US and Europe.
- For voice-based decisions, use client delegation with the Live API.
