  • Build quality: metal case, fits 10" rack, RAM/NVMe on bottom, SATA front with tool-less 3.5" caddies.
  • Default fan is noisy with low-pitched sound; BIOS allows fan curve adjustment for quieter operation.
  • BIOS has SecureBoot disabled by default, easy to boot FOSS systems.
  • Linux (Debian 13) idle power can be as low as 8W after tuning with powertop and disconnecting peripherals.
  • NetBSD 11.0 idle power ~14W with USB monitor disconnected; limited tuning explored.
  • OpenBSD 7.9 idle power ~10W after disconnecting keyboard and screen; apmd doesn't lower further.
  • FreeBSD 15.1 achieves 8W idle by setting C3 state, loading amdtemp/amdgpu modules, and using power saving PCI policy.
  • Fan noise reduced via BIOS parameters: CPU fan Start PWM set to 10%, System fan Start PWM set to 30%.
  • Superiotool and it8718fd utility used to monitor fan speeds and temperatures from FreeBSD.
