Archiving the Oldest Webcam Feed
- FogCam is the oldest continuously running webcam, installed at San Francisco State University since September 30, 1994, updating every 20–60 seconds.
- Justin Earl created Fog-Bank to archive the feed, using four separate image catchers across three networks (own server, home machine, two Cloudflare programs) to grab images every 18 seconds or less.
- The archive currently holds over 169,000 images across 377 days, with most coming from a 2019 effort when the camera was thought to be shutting down.
- FogCam is celebrating its 32nd birthday, and the live feed is still accessible online.
