OpenAI's ad revenue forecast is projected to be 90% short of its five-year target according to Emarketer.
OpenAI projects $2.5 billion in ad revenue this year and $100 billion by 2030, but Emarketer estimates chatbots will generate under $1 billion this year and $5.41 billion by 2030.
OpenAI started its ad trial in February and promoted its projections two months later, based on assumptions of capturing search ad budgets and dominating the chatbot ad market.
