Amazon Deutschland is preparing to replace the iDEAL payment method with Wero, already showing adjustments on its website.
Wero is a European payment method that will gradually replace iDEAL for direct bank transfers, aiming for uniform cross-border payments.
Amazon now displays the payment option as 'Bezahlen mit iDEAL | Wero' during the transition period, which will last until around end of 2027.
For consumers, little changes initially; payments still go through their banking app, with only the name and logo shifting from iDEAL to Wero.
Wero is designed to create a common European standard for digital payments, simplifying cross-border transactions for businesses.
The transition starts in 2026 with a combined logo, and full migration is expected by end of 2027, supported by banks and payment partners.
Wero meets European security and data protection standards, and its integration with Amazon strengthens its adoption, following Decathlon and Lidl.
