Kicki: A DECsystem1060 – Interim Computer Museum
a day ago
- KICKI is a dual PDP-10 KI10 (DECsystem 1060) consisting of CPUs 522 and 606, currently preserved but not yet running.
- For main memory, three options were considered; the correct choice was using MC's 6 MH10 cabinets, providing beautiful lamps and 512KW (a double moby).
- The restoration effort also includes the DF10C Data Channel for DMA between memory and disk, and MC's memory cabinets are covered with ITS notes from MOON.
- Power supply upgrades replace original linear supplies with modern high-efficiency switching supplies, reducing power draw and being fully reversible.
- Progress includes completing power mods to cpu bays, overcoming power-on-reset issues, and restoring memory access after troubleshooting power control modules and cabling.
- Donations are requested to support KICKI's preservation and continued restoration work.
