Intel Expanding Memory Options for Current Xeon 6 / Xeon 6 Servers

- Intel announced BIOS updates to expand memory support for Xeon 6 and Xeon 6+ processors.
- Gen 2 MRDIMM support will be enabled for Xeon 6900P processors in Q1 2027, limited to 8800 MT/s despite Gen2 MRDIMMs capable of up to 12,800 MT/s.
- Xeon 6700P processors will support 8000 MT/s RDIMMs in a 1DPC configuration on select SKUs, offering a 25% memory speed increase and 6% lower latency.
- The BIOS update enabling RDIMM-8000 support is expected in August–September 2025.
- No independent benchmarks from Phoronix are available as Intel has not provided review samples.
