ReFrame – The EPaper Camera
- reFrame is an experimental camera that uses a color ePaper display to capture and display one photo at a time, making each shot deliberate.
- Photos are dithered using six pigments and take 15 seconds to appear on the ePaper screen.
- When idle, reFrame acts as a digital photo frame, giving photos a print-like quality.
- The camera was tested by professional photographers globally with help from APOSSIBLE.
- reFrame is open source, made from off-the-shelf components, and instructions are on GitHub.
- It is a passion project by Kaloyan Kolev; currently not for sale but can be built yourself.
- Hardware includes a Raspberry Pi Zero, Pi Camera 3, 4-inch eInk Spectra 6 display, and a battery.
- Photos are saved digitally and can be downloaded via a web dashboard.
