Find the flattest route between any two points in SF

- Routes are computed in the browser using over 160,000 street segments, USGS 1m lidar elevation, and the Overture/OpenStreetMap street graph.
- A slider controls the trade-off between distance and climbing, from the shortest path to the flattest route worth walking (where 1 foot of climb costs 200 feet of walking).
- Sliding right never shortens the route nor adds climbing; climbing is cumulative gain, not net difference between endpoints.
- Stairways are allowed for walking but excluded for biking; faint lines show other possible routes.
- Place search is offline for San Francisco; source, data, and full analysis are provided.
