- PostgreSQL 18 introduces temporal primary and unique keys using WITHOUT OVERLAPS to prevent overlapping time periods.
- PostgreSQL 19 adds native temporal DML with UPDATE/DELETE ... FOR PORTION OF for surgical history modification.
- Temporal foreign keys using PERIOD clause enforce referential integrity over time, but reference actions are not yet supported.
