- Little Navmap is an open-source flight planner for X-Plane and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
- The project was started 10 years ago by Alexander Barthel, consisting of ~120K lines of C++ with Qt5, OpenGL, D3D, and a 134 MB SQLite3 database.
- The codebase is efficient: routing uses 14K lines, UI 7K lines, map display (via KDE Marble) 21K lines, and weather 2K lines.
- As of writing, the GitHub repository has 119 open issues and 992 closed issues.
- The author demonstrates two flight plans: Tallinn to Copenhagen with a Cirrus SR-22T, and Helsinki to Bangkok with an Airbus A350-900.
- For the long-haul flight, SimBrief was used to generate a route avoiding Russian airspace due to restrictions.
