- A leaked video reveals Microsoft's exploration of 'Copilot OS', codenamed Aion, built on a lightweight Windows codebase called Win3.
- Aion is a web-based agent OS with Copilot integrated into the core shell, featuring a multi-modal input box for file search, app opening, and web browsing.
- The OS includes a 'Spaces' feature on the Taskbar to group apps and sites, and it primarily runs web apps, relying on Windows 365 for streaming desktop apps.
- Aion was experimental, possibly a Hackathon project, and it's unclear if Microsoft plans to ship it, but its concepts may influence current Windows versions like Windows 11.
- Microsoft's recent Project Solara, an agentic OS with just-in-time UI, shares similarities with Aion, suggesting potential evolution or related developments.
