How Art Can Be Good

The author argues that there is such a thing as good taste and good art, contrary to the relativistic belief that taste is merely personal preference.
Good art is defined as art that effectively interests its human audience, and humans share many commonalities (e.g., attraction to faces, primary colors) that make such judgments objective.
Measuring taste is complicated by biases like brand recognition and artistic tricks, but individuals can approach objective judgment by eliminating these errors through awareness and broad exposure.
The ability to recognize good art constitutes good taste, and this concept is crucial for artists who aspire to create great works rather than being discouraged by relativism.
